The character cast changed a couple of times in the beginning but we landed on 2 adult men (one older and more grumpy, and one cheery to the point of being annoying), and a little girl to bring them together.
The Franklin rig by artella.com was chosen for the cheerful tambourine player as he looked Italian but peppy. The grumpy guitarist needed to look older and more withered, and after looking at several rigs we settled on the Tom rig by Long Winter Studios. Then the Leah rig by Andrew Reeves was chosen for the little girl as she needed to be small and cute. The tambourine and guitar rigs were also found online.
Eilin (and Paloma) worked on the rigs' look dev, changing textures to create this colour palette resembling the Italian flag. Eilin also added additional controls to some of the rigs to make them easier to use/parent for animation. Franklin's feet were also made smaller, because they were too comically long.

We were also playing with the idea of having additional characters come out of their windows at the end to join in, so Nickoel checked the scale of all the rigs in a line-up.
