Blocking
This was the animation when everyone was roughly around the blocking stage, with only key poses and not that many in-betweens. At roughly 1 week into animation, people were mostly using their acting references to find the timing and poses of their shots.
Breakdowns
At this stage, a lot of the shots had progressed to having more breakdown poses with more detailed expressions and movements. In general, getting ready to move to splined curves if they hadn't already done so.
Splining
In this edit, all of the shots are on splined curves and everyone is cleaning up timings and interpolation to make sure it doesn't look floaty, or conversely, too stiff. We are starting to see that the animation is getting there and it's more of the secondary animation (like fingers, intersection, eye direction) that needs the most work.
Refinement
At this refinement stage, the animation is close to done with only small tweaks being made to make it more smoother and generally better. One shot that noticeably changed the most in terms of camera and editing during the production stage, was shot 0120 - the time lapse shot. Konrad, the lead animator on that shot, was under constant feedback about the camera framing and the animation transitions. It was one of the last shots to get done, but it ultimately was successful with a combination of animation and editing techniques.
Final Animations (before renders)
Animation was officially finished a couple days before the deadline, with renders overlapping and beginning a couple days before.
